TPI’s action research pushes the boundaries of the theory and practice of partnering; supports the development of tools and guides; and facilitates the exchange of knowledge and experience of partnership practitioners worldwide.
The Partnering Initiative is committed to supporting this process through its work in partnership evaluation, collaborative research and active publication. TPI not only captures, analyses and disseminates learning from its own projects – it also works with leading institutions to facilitate original research and to contribute to the wider community of partnership practitioners and theorists.

Action Research Programmes
TPI is developing two new global Action Research initiatives, which are currently in the design and scoping phase. These programmes will involve collaborating with organisations around the world to focus respectively on making business ‘fit for partnering’ for the SDGs, and on maximising the in-country impact of global partnerships.
Policy Inputs
Improving the practice of partnering worldwide requires a dedicated process of learning from experience, researching partnership activity and capturing new knowledge. Our global, policy-level research and reports aim to disseminate learning and best practice to support partnership practitioners and optimise collaboration around the world.
Issue Specific Research & Case Studies
This brings together our research on specific global issues, such as cross-sector collaboration to tackle non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and global partnerships for education, as well as our expanding range of case studies resources to support learning and best practice.
