Case Study Project

Pages from Case_Study_Toolbook

The Case Study Project was a one-year programme developed by The Partnering Initiative in collaboration with the Alcan Prize for Sustainability and SEED (Supporting Entrepreneurs for Environment and Development) in 2005.

The aims of the project were to:

  • Provide insights into the process of successful cross-sector partnering
  • Create better case study collection and dissemination methods
  • Build professional competencies and skills in this area
  • Establish a benchmark for good practice in case study work
  • Deepen understanding of how case studies may be used more effectively as tools for change

The project developed a number of tools and methodologies for data collection, verification, analysis and presentation and tested them on a range of partnership case studies from widely different contexts. As part of this collaborative project, a workshop for partnership practitioners in February 2005 and an online Practitioners Exchange Network were set up to ensure a wider selection of views and experiences.

Project Outputs:

  • Primary research and adaptation of 5 partnership case studies
  • A series of commissioned papers offering insights into the process of developing partnership case studies
  • Publication: Case Study Toolbook

Commissioned papers

As part of the Case Study Project, The Partnering Initiative commissioned a series of papers entitled “Making the Case; Partnership Case Studies As Tools for Change”, to offer insights into the process of developing partnership case studies.

The papers (which represent the opinions of the authors, not necessarily of The Partnering Initiative) aim to encourage partnership practitioners to reflect on the challenges and benefits of developing fit-for-purpose partnership case studies that capture the partnering process and meet the objectives of the partnership and the needs of the target audience.
