The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development provides a framework for countries integrate the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into national strategies and plan. Multi-stakeholder advisory bodies are a powerful way for national governments to collaborate with other stakeholders in this process.
TPI has now researched and written a second report on the potential for greater use of such bodies for the 2030 Agenda. In Pieces of a Puzzle: Further Steps on a Journey, eight countries are profiled, Costa Rica, Ghana, Nepal, Nigeria, Peru, South Africa, Uganda and Viet Nam. This follows four that were included in 2021’s first report in this series.
We worked closely with counterparts in the German Council for Sustainable Development (RNE), and were also grateful to African Monitor who contributed a chapter on the South Africa experience. The report has been submitted to the Global Forum for National SDG Advisory Bodies, a network that connects the knowledge and experience of multi-stakeholder advisory commissions, councils and similar bodies for sustainable development. It was financially supported GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Government.
